Who Said Branding is Just a Nice Letterhead?

For anyone who thinks branding and marketing is “just all about the work”, read this quick post (The First Law of Self-Promotion) by A Photo Editor. He links to No Plastic Sleeves (an excellent companion website to the book — coming Feb 2010 — about designers’ and photographers’ portfolios) and highlights some key quotes.

As a former magazine art director, I’ve seen everything as well and trust me, it really isn’t “just all about the work”.

I’m working with The Marketing Mentor on fine-tuning my audience and its a wonderful discovery process. Even though I feel successful with where my business is right now I recognized I need some help. So far, the money I’m investing is paying off and this is only week 3!

The best part: My right brain is full of ideas and with a mentor I feel more confident about developing and having the tools to execute using my left brain.

If you need help, seek it. DIY, IMHO, can be successful and rewarding but most of the time I’ve found it to be a huge time suck. In this economy, I’d rather spend my time working on my business; paying another entrepreneur what they are worth to help me market and help my clients is worth the investment.
