Since moving away from Washington, DC time spent with dear friends Callie Shell and Vince Musi has been rare. We miss them.
Seeing and connecting with them by the images they make for TIME or National Geographic is the bright side even if miles separate our connection in person.
Callie's photographs of Senator Barack Obama are currently featured in the Digital Journalist.
This is one of my favorite images from the series:

I loved that he cleaned up after himself before leaving an ice cream shop in Wapello, Iowa. He didn't have to. The event was over and the press had left. He is used to taking care of things himself and I think this is one of the qualities that makes Obama different from so many other political candidates I've encountered. Nov. 7, 2007 -- Callie Shell
It was refreshing for me to see so many still images of Senator Barack Obama. Taking away the noise of talking heads; experiencing the magical subtleties of Callie's seeing, and reading the captions allowed a greater connection to the man I hope will be our next president.
